A metal garage is built for vehicle and equipment storage — it's not designed for full-time living. A barndominium is purpose-built to function as a home: taller wall heights, insulation packages, more windows, and layouts designed around living space. It can still include garage bays, but the structure itself is built with habitation in mind.
