Roof Styles
Here at Get Carports, we offer several roof styles to choose from, including our regular style (Good), A-Frame horizontal (Better), and vertical (Best). Each roofing system is a reliable option; however, it’s important to know everything about its unique designs and the benefits it offers.
Regular Roof Style– Our regular roofing system is the most economically built and priced option offered in the metal building industry. This standard, curved edge roof design is installed with horizontal paneling that easily channels all rain, snow, and other debris off the ends of the structure. Due to its simple framing, it is best
suited for areas that only experience mild to moderate weather conditions.
A-Frame Horizontal Roof – Also known as a boxed-eave roofing system, our A-frame style option is designed to blend seamlessly with your home and other preexisting structures. It is installed with horizontal panels and an overhang to keep rain, snow, falling leaves, and other debris away from your vehicles and other property. We recommend it for warmer areas that typically only experience some high winds and very light precipitation.
Vertical Roof – The vertical roof style, which is also an A-frame style, is highly recommended for areas prone to extreme weather conditions. While it is built for all climate types, it is suitable no matter where you are located. It is installed with additional framing pieces and vertically aligned panels that protect your valuables from all weather conditions. Keep in mind that it is required for structures longer than 36’.
Standard Features
Our structures can be designed and tailored to your exact specifications, but there are also various standard options and prices to choose from. Some of these options do vary based on the area you are located in; for example, areas with higher snowfall ratings have standard, 4’ centers, whereas areas with less snowfall have 5’ centers. We’ve provided a list below with some of our standard sizes and available features.
- Steel Gauge Framing Sizes – The industry’s standard framing size is our 14-gauge option with a diameter of 2 ½” x 2 ½”. We also offer a stronger, more durable steel framing with a diameter of 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”; 12-gauge. These framing options are available no matter where you’re located; however, there are some areas that require 12-gauge steel framing.
- Anchors – At Get Carports, we offer four different types of anchors: asphalt, concrete, mobile home, and rebar. These anchors are only used for specific foundation types, which your building specialist can provide more information about.
- Certified or Non-Certified – Depending on the area you live in, you may or may not be required to certify your structure. While it depends on your location, the weather in your area, and the requirements of your local building department, you can always choose to certify your structure if it isn’t required.
- Colors – In addition to our standard color options, there are also premium colors available to purchase. You can choose your ideal color combination from these colors for your roof, walls, and trim.
- Additional Features – Other features we offer here at Get Carports include our garage doors, walk-in doors, windows, and roof styles. You can customize your metal building with these features, or you can ask your building specialist for assistance

Steel Vs. Concrete, Wood, and Vinyl Buildings
Many materials present themselves as options for building a unique, personal, and functional structure. Concrete, wood, vinyl, and steel make up the majority of them. When you compare these materials, you quickly see that steel has many advantages over more expensive, less secure, and environmentally harmful materials like concrete, vinyl, and wood. Consider these differences between steel and other materials. See the benefits of metal buildings:
Steel Frame vs. Wood — Metal buildings can cost 50 percent less than wood. While wood offers a more traditional aesthetic, it is also susceptible to insects, rot, fire, and damage in ways steel resists. Even as a natural insulator, wood cannot stand up to the strength and durability of steel, making it less worthy of its value.
Steel vs. Vinyl— While vinyl remains popular due to its styling options, steel is just as suited to match residential, commercial, and agricultural aesthetics. In addition, steel has an advantage with its strength and durability. Steel beats vinyl siding in keeping water out, resisting cracks, and enduring stormy weather. Though both materials are installed easily, steel remains perhaps the easiest to assemble safely.
Metal vs. Concrete — Concrete appeals to those who want to shape it into unique forms. However, the heavy material carries significant weight and constrains its ability to cover long distances. Unlike concrete, steel offers greater flexibility in design at various sizes and provides better resistance to fire, weather, and damaging forces. It can even rival concrete in terms of cost-effectiveness.

How to Prepare Site for Metal Building Installation
Metal Building Site Preparation
Proper site preparation is important when preparing for the installation of a steel building. This ensures that the assembly crew can install the structure efficiently. All preparations must be completed before the building can be assembled to avoid increasing lead time and decreasing the structure’s lifespan.

What’s Next?
After finishing all the necessary groundwork and having your foundation ready, it’s time to get in touch with our building specialist to let them know that you are prepared for the installation of your structure. Once you’ve informed them, the manufacturer will provide you with an estimated lead time for the installation. As the delivery date approaches, you can expect a reminder call from the manufacturer to ensure that someone will be available on-site for the installation.
Metal Building Installation Process
- Following the completion of your foundation, the manufacturer will get in touch with you to arrange a delivery date.
- A reminder about your delivery and installation date will be sent to you a few days prior.
- Our professional crew will arrive with your structure.
- Your building will be assembled on-site.
Factors That Affect the Installation of Prefabricated Metal Buildings
- Building Dimensions (Length, Width, and Height): The size of your structure plays a significant role in the time required for assembly. A smaller 12’W x 21’L carport may be assembled in just a few hours, while a larger 40’W x 60’L fully enclosed garage could take an entire day or longer.
- Roof Slope: The slope of your roof, along with the size dimensions, impacts the installation time. Different roof slopes are available, and each affects the design and engineering of your building.
- Insulation: Opting for insulation adds an extra step to the installation process, potentially increasing the timeframe. You have the option to insulate the entire building, just the roof, or only the walls.
- Anchoring System: Different anchoring systems are available for various foundations, such as asphalt, concrete, mobile home, and rebar anchors.
Depending on your choice and certification requirements, additional time may be needed for installation. - Material Handling, Unloading, and Storing: Since each steel component is manually unloaded and assembled, the time required for assembly is affected. Every component, from the base rail to the roofing system, is handled and assembled by hand without the need for special equipment.
- Structural Framing: The specific design and layout of custom metal buildings require a unique method for installation. No special equipment is necessary, as the assembly is done entirely by our experienced crews.
